Udaipur Introduction :-

Udaipur the city of lakes located in the Aravalli ranges of Rajasthan. The city of Udaipur is situated at  the distance of about 405 km from the state capital Jaipur. The lakeside city was built by on a small wooded plain encircled by mountains which was in direct contrast to the masculinity of Chittor and Kumbhalgarh. the marble palaces, the beautiful gardens and the placid blue lakes enhance the beauty of this city. A brilliant kaleidoscope of narrow lanes flanked by bright stalls, gardens, lakes, palaces and temples. The city is famous for its palaces, lake, museums, temples, and gardens and much more.

Tourist Attraction In Udaipur :-

Lake Pichola
The Pichola lake is surrounded by hills, gardens, havelis, ghats and temples. The lake was enlarged by Maharana Udai Singh, who found this city. the two islands on the lake Jag mandir and Jag Niwas present a magnificent sight. Boat rides is the major attraction of this place.

Jagdish Temple
Built in 1651 by Maharana Jagat Singh, it is located at about 150 metres north of the entrance to the city palace. The temple is designed in Indo-Aryan style and is the largest and most beautiful temple of Udaipur. A brass image of Garuda lies in front of the temple.

Bagore Ki Haveli
There is a very congenial old building built right on the waterfront of Lake Pichola at gangori ghat built in the 18th century by Amirchand Badwa The palace has very interesting display of costumes and modern art. It also preserves a fine example of Mewar Painting on the walls of Queen's Chamber.

City Palace
The City Palace has many courtyards, pavilions, terraces, corridors, rooms and hanging gardens. The main part of the palace is now been converted in to an museum,in which very beautiful mosaics of peacocks at the Mor chowk, the Glass and Mirror work in the Manak and Moti Mahal and a beautiful collection of miniatures in Krishna Vilas.

Saheliyon ki Bari
The 'garden of the maidens' brings to mind the lifestyle of the ladies of the court. It is an ornamental garden on the north of the city built  in the mid 18th century. There are four pools with dainty kiosks, and all around are flowerbeds, lawns, pools and fountains protected by a series of walls and shady trees.

 

How to Reach There :-

Air:  Indian Airlines Daily connects Udaipur from Jodhpur, Jaipur, Mumbai and Delhi. Dabok airport is 21km away from the city.

Train:
Udaipur is connected by major road link between Mumbai and Delhi. The Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh road transport corporation operate buses to Udaipur from various region.

Road:  Udaipur is on the western railway network. The railway station is about  4 km from the city center. Udaipur is directly connected by rail with Delhi, Jaipur, Ajmer and Jodhpur.

 

Udaipur Shopping

Udaipur has countless shops and many interesting local crafts that make it a one-of-its-kind shopping experience. A plethora of items like folk toys, colourful tie-and-dye-sarees and clothes, turbans, hand painted fabric, silver jewellery, wall hangings and miniature paintings in Rajput style are the favourite buys. The beautiful images of gods and goddesses made in the nearby Mollela village near Nathdwara are not to be missed. The shopping spots include a cluster of stalls on the Lake Palace Road next to the Rang Niwas Palace Hotel and others around the Jagdish Temple.

Brass items, white metal articles and textile can be purchased from the Hathipole.

Cane Furniture and other items from cane are a good choice and some of the items you’ll find are beautifully crafted so you won’t be disappointed.

Handicrafts A lot of big show rooms are sprawled all over the city. A state-run handicrafts showroom is situated at Chetak Circle.

Carpets and Durries Woollen carpets made in Persian style and cotton durries made in geometrical motifs are an excellent choice

Leather Articles Leather is an essential raw material for making musical instruments, especially percussion instruments (such as the tabla and dhol) and the stringed instruments (like kamaycha) used by Rajasthani folk musicians. It is also used for footwear and other accessories and the designs are plentiful.

Paintings Anyone who is fond of paintings should not miss out Rajasthani paintings which can broadly be classified as Wall, Cloth and Miniature Paintings.

Jewellery Rajasthan became famous for its jewellery industry from very early times, being an important source of precious and semi-precious stones such as emeralds, garnets, agate, amethyst, topaz and lapiz lazuli.

Pottery Clay is extensively used for making pots, dolls and other objects. Brush-painted images of folk divinities are sold in village fairs during festive times such as Gangaur, Teej and Diwali.

Puppets or kathputlis are lovely things that can be bought from Rajasthan and can add lively charm to a dull room.

Silver items can be purchased from showrooms at the Clock Tower.

Textiles Rajasthani textiles are not to be missed and they come in fascinating range of dyed and block-printed fabric which are further embellished by embroidery.

Terracotta The beautiful terracotta images of gods and goddesses made in the nearby Molela village near Nathdwara are not to be missed

Wooden Articles Small carved wooden chests and boxes with brass inlay and lacquer-work are the some of the most popular items, together with sandalwood statues.
